No Parking Sign

Parking of any vehicle is not permitted in this area.

What It Means

The No Parking sign (a "P" with a red cross or diagonal bar) prohibits leaving a vehicle unattended. Unlike No Stopping, you may briefly stop to drop or pick up passengers as long as you remain in the vehicle or nearby. Vehicles parked in no-parking zones are subject to towing by traffic police. In cities like Delhi and Mumbai, fines are imposed per hour of parking violation.

📍 Where You'll See It

Outside hospitals, near traffic signals, on narrow roads, no-parking lanes, bus stops, fire hydrant zones, and restricted zones.

What You Must Do

Do not park. Move on to the nearest designated parking area. Brief stops for pick-up/drop are generally permitted if the driver remains.

⚠️ Common Mistake

Parking "just for 5 minutes" and leaving the vehicle unattended. Tow trucks are active and fines plus towing charges apply.

⚖️ Legal Note

Violation: Sec. 122 MV Act. Fine: ₹500–₹1,000. Vehicle may be towed. Towing + impound fees additional.
