How to Get a Duplicate RC (Registration Certificate)

If your vehicle's Registration Certificate (RC) is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can apply for a duplicate RC at your RTO. Some states also allow online applications.

File an FIR (if lost/stolen)

File a police complaint (FIR or GD entry) reporting the loss of your RC. Keep a copy.

Visit the RTO or Apply Online

Visit parivahan.gov.in → Online Services → RC Related → "Duplicate RC" or visit your RTO in person.

Submit Form 26

Fill Form 26 (Application for Duplicate RC) with your vehicle details.

Submit Documents

Submit: FIR copy, Form 26, valid insurance, PUC certificate, Aadhaar, and an affidavit on stamp paper declaring the loss.

Pay Fee

Pay the duplicate RC fee (₹300–₹500).

Receive Duplicate RC

The duplicate RC is dispatched within 15–30 days. It will be marked "DUPLICATE" on the card.
