How to Renew Driving Licence Online in India
You can renew your driving licence online up to 1 year before and 1 year after the expiry date. Apply through the Parivahan portal without visiting the RTO.

Step-by-Step Process
Visit parivahan.gov.in
Go to Online Services → Driving Licence Related Services → select your state.
Click "DL Renewal"
Select the "Renewal of Driving Licence" option.
Enter DL Number and Date of Birth
Enter your existing DL number and date of birth for verification.
Fill Application Form
Update any changed details (address, vehicle class). Upload a new photo if required.
Upload Medical Certificate
For renewal after age 40, a medical certificate (Form 1A) is mandatory.
Pay Fee Online
Pay the renewal fee (₹200–₹500) by card, net banking, or UPI.
Receive Renewed DL
The renewed DL is dispatched by post. Temporary receipt is available for download immediately.

Tips
- →Renew before expiry — driving with an expired DL is the same as driving without one (₹5,000 fine).
- →If expired more than 1 year ago, you may need to retake the DL test.
- →The renewed DL appears on DigiLocker — you can drive with the digital copy while waiting for the physical card.
