You can check basic vehicle registration details (owner name, vehicle class, fuel type, registration date, insurance status) using the VAHAN portal or mParivahan app. Full owner address is not publicly available for privacy.

Step-by-Step Process
Using mParivahan App (Easiest)
Download mParivahan from Play Store/App Store. Enter the vehicle number in the "Know Your Vehicle" section. Tap search.
Using VAHAN Portal
Go to vahan.parivahan.gov.in. Click "Know Your Vehicle Details." Enter the vehicle registration number and captcha.
View Details
You can see: owner name, vehicle class, fuel type, registration date, registration validity, insurance status and expiry, fitness certificate status (for transport vehicles), and hypothecation details (if vehicle is on loan).

Tips
- →Use this to verify a second-hand vehicle before purchase — check if registration is valid and not blacklisted.
- →Check insurance status before buying — transfer insurance to your name after purchase.
- →Full address of the owner is NOT available publicly — only the RTO or police can access that.
- →If the vehicle shows as "blacklisted" or "NOC issued," investigate before purchasing.
