Camping Site Sign

Shape: Rectangle or square · Colour: Blue background
A designated camping or overnight stopping area is available here.
What It Means
Camping site signs indicate areas where long-distance travellers — particularly truck drivers and road-trip enthusiasts — can safely stop for the night. India's long-haul truckers often sleep in their cabs; designated stops with security, restrooms, and lighting are far safer than random roadside stops. The sign is also relevant for adventure motorcyclists and car-tourers on long routes.
📍 Where You'll See It
On national highways, near hill stations and tourist routes, and at designated driver rest areas.
✅ What You Must Do
Use designated areas for overnight stops. Avoid sleeping in vehicles parked on road shoulders or in unlit areas.
⚠️ Common Mistake
Parking on a highway shoulder for an overnight rest — this is illegal and extremely dangerous.
⚖️ Legal Note
Stopping on a highway carriageway or main shoulder overnight: Sec. 119 / 177 MV Act.
