The Central Government may make rules for— (a) design, construction and maintenance standards for National highways; (b) such other factors as may be taken into account by the Court under sub-section (3) of section 198A; (c) any other matter which is, or has to be, prescribed by the Central Government.
Amended by the Jan Vishwas Act, 2026 — in force from 15 August 2026
(ZR) In section 210C, after clause (b), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:— “(ba) the manner in which warning for contraventions shall be recorded under this Chapter;”.
Amending instruction from the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 (No. 8 of 2026), Schedule entry 51, quoted verbatim. It took effect for the Motor Vehicles Act on 15 August 2026 under S.O. 4100(E), 24 July 2026. Where it conflicts with the text above, this later change prevails.
